So have you heard? Google increasingly wants to take a piece of the social media kingdom that is currently being ruled by FaceBook. After the failure (some could call it that) of Google Buzz, they are back now with Social Sharing glory called Google Plus.  For past few days, I have been busy answering questions from clients who are anxious and excited about riding the Google Plus wave to glory!

What is Google Plus?

Don’t dare calling it a social networking outlet, Google has made it very clear that this will be a “Social Sharing” platform that allows users to select what to share and who to share with. Google is calling this system “Circles”.  Think of this as a powerful friend list that FaceBook has failed to integrate effectively. With Circles, you will be able to create groups and share information with different social circles (friends, coworkers, etc.).  Creating these social circles is as easy as drag and drop (thanks to HTML5 technology).

Taking a step further, google has created the ability to group video chat with your circles called “Hangouts”. User can start a hangout by clicking on a button and your friends can feel free to drop in whenever they like (up to 10 friends).

Another awesome Google Plus feature that will be liked particularly by the SEO gurus out there is called “Sparks” (Google +1). This is basically a recommendation engine for finding interesting content grouped by interest. So there could be a group called “Movies” that will hold all the information (recent and relevant) for that topic.
